Web UI Developer

As a Barclays Web UI developer you will actively contribute to all of the platform enhancements requested by the product owner or the business users. You will have a heavy emphasis on both technical and communication skills, and you will be expected to deliver robust design and technical solutions in a controlled, transparent, and actively risk managed fashion. Moreover, you will be responsible for ensuring that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month, or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally can request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances. What will you be doing?

• Taking responsibility and ownership of DevOps improvements for applications maintained by the team
• Designing and implementing changes in environment configuration, deployment automation, application monitoring
• Working on all aspects of analysis, design, implementation, and deployment of software
• Focusing on good code quality and high-test coverage and actively participate in code reviews
• Contributing to the delivery of complex projects in collaboration with global teams across Barclays
• Seeking the advice of stakeholders to better create clarity in complex situations, understand problems, evaluate options, and make decisions
• Considering the impact of their actions and decisions on key stakeholders

What we’re looking for:

• Thorough understanding of Angular, its concepts and best practices
• Solid knowledge of fundamental web technologies such as HTTP, REST and JSON
• Thorough understanding of asynchronous mechanisms used in the modern web development
• Good understanding of web standards, cross-browser compatibility, accessibility

• Experience with source control systems (e.g. Git), Issue-tracking systems (e.g. JIRA), Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum/Kanban)
• Excellent communication skills
• A solid analytical/problem solving mind-set
