Your responsibilities:
- In your role as Senior UNIX/Linux System Administrator, you will be responsible for the operation, availability, performance and optimisation of the mainly virtualised Linux/UNIX system landscape (AIX, RedHat, SuSE).
- Monitoring and performance analysis (Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana) as well as troubleshooting and error analysis are also part of your tasks.
- Operation of the Kubernetes cluster (RedHat OpenShift) and support of the DevOps teams.
- Support of the HPC cluster and its specialist department (Ansys, MSC).
- You develop and operate systems to support internal IT and cloud platforms.
- Standard and automation of an efficient system environment using e.g. Bash, Python, Perl, Ansible, Terraform.
- Operation of patch management.
- Planning, implementation and support of projects in the mentioned environment.
What we expect:
- You have a specialized education (e.g. IT specialist) or a comparable degree in the IT field.
- Several years of specific professional experience in the administration and operation of a UNIX/Linux system landscape.
- You have good knowledge of common Linux operating systems, primarily AIX, RedHat, SuSE.
- Ideally, you have LPIC certification.
- Understanding of virtualisation techniques (PowerVM,VMware ESX) and containers.
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
- A strong understanding of IT security issues.
- Basic knowledge of network technology and firewalls.
- Ability to quickly grasp complex issues and extract relevant information from departmental requirements.
- Self-motivation for standardization and documentation.
- Distinct service and customer orientation as well as participation in on-call duty.
- Team player with good written and spoken German- and English skills (both B2, minimum B1).
