Senior Accountant General Ledger

Location: Prague

Contract: Full-time, permanent

We are looking for a  Senior Accountant General Ledger (GL) for Synthes. YOU will be performing independently recurring accounting tasks of medium or high complexity. You need to possess good knowledge of general accounting methods and business requirements. You will be working on the diligent execution of compliance controls and reports. You will work independently to understand and resolve process gaps in areas of responsibility. You will be suggesting and implementing improved processes. Furthermore, you will support the Finance Manager, Senior Finance Manager, and SFA in statutory. 

The responsibilities & the impact YOU will have:

  • Independent preparation of recurring, complex accounting entries. For example fixed assets, tax postings, SBC, FAS87, Inpats, equity clearing, accruals with many business partners.
  • Control of accounts vs budget/expectations. Anticipation on questions from Controlling and Reporting.

  • Responsibility for balance sheet reconciliations of medium or high complexity and other SOX controls and documentation.
  • Internal and external Audit Support.
  • Colleagues coaching and limited people management (if applicable external Partners). Otherwise, high expectations of professional behavior and team collaboration. For example continuous development in finance and personal skills (on the job, online, and in the classroom setting).
  • Leadership or supports smaller projects in Shared Finance. The expectation is that the senior accountant can drive at least one major improvement project within a year.
  • Connecting with business partners in various channels and understanding their demands.
  • Qualifications

    We would love to hear from YOU, if you have:

  • University/Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
  • Existing or willing to obtain recognized accounting qualifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), or CIA (Corporate Internal Audit) Constant on-job education with financial training.
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years of applicable finance, and accounting experience.
  • Good communication, ongoing development in project leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Stress resistance, flexibility, and a sense of priority to handle tasks and deadlines
  • “Can do” attitude: ability to manage complex and ambiguous situations
  • Strong business acumen, Strong Customer orientation, Project management capabilities
  • Strong teamwork attributes in a virtual/remote environment
  • Proactivity: Ability to look ahead and anticipate
  • Process oriented, strong analytical skills
  • Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of other MS Office applications (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) required
  • SAP knowledge (FI/CO)
  • Fluent in English. German or French would be an asset
