IDC is looking for a Research Manager with significant experience in the telco space (ideally with expertise in the consumer telecoms space) to help drive our growing telecoms business. Key responsibilities include:

  • shape and create content for the program
  • deliver consulting projects and speaking engagements
  • ensure that IDC continues to be a thought leader in this space. This role will require a deep understanding of telecoms and mobility, ideally from the consumer angle: how it is transforming, and opportunities in relation to key market developments.
  • The successful candidate will have excellent customer relationship skills and will be eager to contribute to the continuing expansion of our client base and business across the region.


  • Shaping and delivering research for our existing syndicated products – both qualitative and data focused – by interacting with the market, as well as desk research from varied publicly available sources.
  • Staying abreast of the telco and mobility [consumer] market landscape and contribute to the creation of market notes that provide event commentary and analyst viewpoints.
  • Creating and reviewing surveys and forecasts as per research and consulting requirements.
  • Presenting (in person or via video), to clients or at IDC events.
  • Building a strong presence and relationships with vendors active in this market and understanding key business and technology issues they face.
  • In addition to the research requirements, the role also involves leading or supporting specific consulting projects, based on IDC data and analysis.
  • We are looking for a self-motivated person who can work independently, while working in a collaborative environment with other team members, both in Europe and as part of our global research groups.


  • Ideally a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, international business, information technology, economics or science
  • Around 5 – 8 years of industry experience
  • Market understanding of industry trends
  • Deep insight of telco/vendor/mobility [consumer] strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, additional languages are an advantage
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and relationship skills
  • Financial and numeric skills – to understand data, pricing, and financial reporting
  • Time management and organization skills, being a team player, attention to detail
  • Responsiveness, ability to work against tight deadlines, openness, and flexibility
  • Marketing minded and Social Media fluency
