What you will do 
As Chapter Lead Java you are a technically skilled domain expert with the additional responsibility as line manager. As a Developer for delivery team you will develop new solutions or enhance existing ones. As a Chapter Leader you will contribute to common ways of working across the Java Chapter through methods and best practices according to standards, technologies, and trends.  
Your time here will be split between delivering value as a programmer for product team and leading and managing a chapter of Java engineers at your location. 
 Key responsibilities: 
  • Contribute your expertise as hands-on developer to delivery or product teams 
  • Drive full SDLC from start to finish. This includes design, architecture, implementation, DevSecOps of software solutions based on business requirements 
  • Lead, develop and attract a team of talented Java engineers, supporting their personal growth and challenges on assignments 
  • Develop and execute the competence strategy for Java engineers within your team, meeting with chapter members to discuss and drive excellence in areas such as best practices, frameworks and tools  
  • Manage capacity planning, ensuring short and long-term competence and capacity of the Java software engineers  
  • Secure external input and best practice sharing in the community 
  • Secure agile ways of working 
  • Be involved in day-to-day working in delivery or product teams or contributing to an assignment  
  • Balance your time between line manager and team member

You need to have several years of experience as a practitioner (SW Engineer) and be a technical expert in the Java domain. That includes to be highly skilled in Java EE, including related technologies and frameworks such as Spring/Spring Boot. Demonstrated leadership qualities to coach people or a few years´ experience of leading people, preferably in the Java Domain is also crucial. Working with agile methodologies comes naturally to you.  
Other skills: 
  • Knowledge of software design and software architecture would be an asset, as well being familiar with topics such as automated deployment processes (CI/CD) and Microservices  
  • Understanding of front-end technologies and platforms, such as JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Angular  
  • Experience with API, user authentication/authorization and integrations  
  • Unit testing, TDD  
  • Experience with Cloud programming and Docker containers   
  • Relevant University degree or similar 
  • Excellent proficiency in English is a requirement  
Position location 
This job position is located in Wroclaw (Poland) but other locations can be considered if there is a good match between skills and profile requirement. Relocation support can be provided if needed.
