The Data & Analytics (D&A) team sits within the Global Supplier Management Group (GSMG) Business Operations organization and is responsible for supporting the entire GSMG organization with analytics support. The D&A team will work closely with the other key areas of the Business Operations team – Process/Policy, Systems Excellence, Global Sourcing & Contracting, Operational Excellence, and Value Realization.
We are seeking GSMG Data Science Manager to help lead the development of applications that deliver data driven insights and improved business outcomes. Reporting to the Director Data and Analytics, our GSMG Business Operation team, this position will work closely with directors and executives across the GSMG organization to understand key business problems and develop appropriate analytical approaches and models. This position will be “hands-on” with a strong focus on the skills needed to extract scientific and business meaning from and interpret data using all kinds of advanced analytics method – statistical, mathematical, including simulations, optimizations, machine learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Understands the customer/stakeholders business needs/priorities and helps building solutions that support our business goals. Establish and manages the close relationship with customers/stakeholders.
Participates on the definition of complex analytics projects working with the business/IT teams to propose the right analytical approach/methodology
Provide periodic reports to Category / GCS Lead / Regional Lead as necessary
Act as lead for team of Business Performance Analyst and Category Data Analysts
Has overview of the Data Science market development to be able to come up/explore new ways of delivering analytics solutions to increase their value/contribution
Manages a group of 3-4 data scientists, drives professional as well as personal development of subordinates to help them growth their expertise and career within our Company to maximize the value they deliver to the business. Is responsible for high quality deliveries of his team.
Builds “community of practice” leveraging experience from delivering complex analytics projects, functionally/technically mentors more junior colleagues while contributing to build a strong skilled team of advanced analytic scientists.
Contribute to innovative experiments, specifically to idea generation, idea incubation and/or experimentation, identifying tangible and measurable criteria
Communicates with the business and provides with necessary insights both from an IT and a business perspective in order to build appreciation for the quantitative tools and analyses and to drive organizational buy in on a journey from descriptive to predictive analytics
Promote a culture of modelling and analytics as a differentiator and competitive advantage.
Support Data & Analytics Lead to develop periodic reports to support the other Business Operations leads and Category Leads
Collaborate with the Data & Analytics Lead for key performance management based on predefined SLA’s and continuous improvement
Anticipate future demands of initiatives related to people, technology, budget and business and design / implement solutions to meet these needs to best support category teams and business analytics
Travel will be required (~15%)
Education and Skills Required
Degree or advanced degree in data science, mathematics, statistics, or computer science or related fields; PhD preferred
Minimum Experience Required
Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant delivery of complex analytical projects (industrialized, validated), minimum 2 years of relevant experience in the Life Sciences industry.
Skills/Knowledge Required
Proficiency in statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, multivariate testing, and optimization algorithms multi-method modeling and simulation, optimization; economic decision analysis; algorithm development, data integration, mining, and visualization of complex data
Self-motivation, proactivity and ability to work independently with minimum direction Proven knowledge of business processes and industry/market trends within the pharmaceutical space
Excellent business acumen, with proven ability to understand business processes in detail – both at global and region/country levels – and translate these into user stories and detailed business requirements
Proven leadership and negotiation skills, along with good analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (English – both oral and written), along with the ability to communicate appropriately and confidently with colleagues from different backgrounds and seniority levels
Excellent organizational skills, with ability to navigate a complex matrix environment and organize/prioritize work efficiently and effectively
