SpendingPulse™ SpendingPulse™ products leverage Mastercard data to deliver timely insights and forecasts on macroeconomic trends around sales performance across sectors, geographies, and channels. These insights are the only macroeconomic indicators of industry performance based on actual, near real-time spend data. SpendingPulse™ is a global product providing sales and growth estimates across 25+ retail sectors and sub-sectors in key economies around the world. About the role The Mastercard SpendingPulse™ products report timely insights and forecasts to internal and external stakeholders. The analytics modelling and prototyping team oversees all new prototyping and development of new reports, vertical and geographies as well as new production efforts. The group analyzes & synthesizes data sets both from within Mastercard and beyond to bring powerful insights to clients. This candidate will be part of a cross-functional team of data engineers, econometricians, data scientists and platform designers and will help us scale our offerings and create prototypes for new ideas/offerings. You will also help locate and ingest relevant 3rd party data, develop new models and detailed forecasts, design outlier detection algorithms and work on many other complex and challenging problems. Qualifications: • Undergraduate or master’s degree and at least 1-2 years of work experience after completing your undergraduate degree • Familiarity with SQL • Experience with big data or a strong interest in learning • Experience programming in R or Python • Exposure to time series data and models • Some experience with managing large datasets • Experience working with credit card data a big plus • Passion: Actively seeks responsibility and takes pride in delivering the highest quality results and recommendations to our clients. • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively – both verbally and in writing – in English and the local office language(s) • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment • Candidates must be eligible to work in the country of which they are applying for a position in, as well as eligible to apply for travel visas as required by travel needs Due to COVID-19, most of our employees are working from home.
