About the Role

The focus of the Business Development Manager is to strengthen Lockheed Martin
customer relationships and support development and delivery of Aero strategy in Czechia, Slovakia, Austria and Hungary. Reporting to the Global Pursuits Regional Director, the position supports aircraft and sustainment new business pursuits and capture efforts. The individual will help develop and manage LM Aero customer engagement, business development, strategy and coordination/development of relationships in the aforementioned countries, representing LM Aero to leaders, customers, industry partners and other key stakeholders. He/she will work to strengthen the Lockheed Martin image and increase understanding and support for Lockheed Martin goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a network of external stakeholders in government, military, and industry at all levels of seniority;
  • Provide real-time political, military and economic analysis and situational reporting to Aeronautics Business Development leadership;
  • Understand and support LM Aero strategies in Czechia, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary;
  • Support LM Aero in delivering programs;
  • Identify Aeronautics oportunities; provide arguments for and against the viability of the formalized pursuit efforts and investments; assist campaign teams (when stood up) throughout the capture process;
  • Develop an understanding of each countries procurement environment;
  • Plan, coordinate and lead events and activities to support LM Aero’s business development and government relations goals; provide informed input for business development resource planning;
  • Draft political, business reports and correspondence in English to a high standard for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Establish and cultivate government relations.
  • Required skills, qualifications and experience

    Required Skills:

  • Excellent English and Czech written and verbal communications skills are essential (to include defense related vocabulary); working knowledge of German and Hungarian is desireable;
  • A flexible team player who can work well with international multi-cultural teams, committed to personal excellence, ethical behavior and integrity;
  • Knowledge and experience of successfully working and thriving in a fast paced environment;
  • Strong ability to build successful relationships with all levels of stakeholders in both public and private sectors;
  • Ability to manage multiple lines of work concurrently;
  • A high degree of flexibility and the availability to travel frequently within Czechia, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary and occasionally elsewhere within Europe and to the US;
  • Self-motivation and the ability to operate in a virtual team with minimal guidance;
  • Strong organizational skills and the flexiblity to respond quickly to multiple requests from across the whole corporation.
  • Background knowledge:

    The following areas of knowledge would be an advantage:

  • Understanding of the US Security Assistance Process (FMS)
  • Understanding of the military modernization objectives and processes for the four-country region.
  • Knowledge of current Armed Forces Structure, Ministry of Defence, acquistion agencies, and defense industry within the four-country region.
  • Understanding of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics products and services.
  • Knowledge of region’s defense acqusition processes and policies.
  • Knowledge of the Central Europe political situation.
  • Knowledge of US defense market.
  • Knowledge of competitive environment in the region.
