SECTION OF BIOLOGY

• Academic in the field of Plant ecology with a focus on functional plant ecology
  (position on boarding: assistant professor)

Department of Botany, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic is seeking an experienced independent researcher to join the academic staff of the Plant Ecology unit. The successful candidate will become a member of a group addressing a broad range of research questions in the fields of plant and vegetation ecology.

We offer:

• full-time institutionally-funded position for a period of 3 years, with a perspective for a tenure track
• starting salary of 45.000 CZK brutto (i.e., well-above the average Czech income)
• up-to 120.000 CZK per year to support research agenda
• support for settle in foreign language environment
• support for submission of Czech and international grant proposals
• work in an inspiring academic environment in daily contact with students in the historical centre of Prague

We require

• strong scientific track record including regular publications in international journals
• own research agenda and scientific independence, fund-raising activity
• enthusiasm for team building and collaboration
• participation in teaching activites of the Department (the extent is negotiable)
• supervision of Master and PhD student projects
• ability to acquire basic communication skills in the Czech language

Desirable but not required:

• experience from a working environment outside the Czech Republic
• solid background in statistical testing and data analysis
• teaching experience in the academic environment
