Role Purpose

Develop, deploy and evolve Automation Platforms and solutions around them to support technology-enabled business strategies and operations anywhere and anytime while constantly increasing agility and scalability. Drive and support applications during the mass adoption of automation technologies and support them in their journey to an increasingly automated state.

Your Key Responsibilities

Lead the effective delivery and operations of Compute Platforms including all operating systems leveraged in the organization.
Ensure best-in-class support for compute platform technologies across the company not only in the IT infrastructure area, but also providing services and solutions to all application teams onboarding and leveraging these technologies.
Manage a team of engineers covering the compute area by allocating financial and human capital and ensuring timely and effective delivery of services.
Retain, recruit, hire, manage and coach a highly specialized and globally distributed team of technology professionals to execute our vision
Establish standardized design and development processes to enable cost effective delivery. Oversee the operational health, management, security, lifecycle, and reliability.
Support and ensure compliance to defined IT Governance controls, standards, and practices.
Accountable for managing suppliers in ensuring they deliver quality services and meet all contractual obligations. Tracks actual utilization of services and reporting of supplier performance in meeting business service expectations and service levels.
Serve as a role model and ensure all next line leaders are visible and effective partners with IT counterparts, broader Sandoz stakeholders, and service providers.

Minimum requirements
University degree in Computer Science or comparable education
Fluent English written and spoken
10+ years of experience in working with virtualized OS deployments for both Windows and Linux understanding performance tuning, high availability design, security hardening, release management.
5+ years of experience with hyper converged infrastructure platforms
Experience in both on-prem and cloud deployment of workloads.
Experience in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
5+ years of experience in managing engineering teams.
More than 10 years of experience in Service Management or Engineering of a global service portfolio in similar areas as above, across geographies and business areas.
Experience in negotiating agreements with corporate suppliers in close co-operation with the sourcing function

Plus the above, the below requirements are required for each department:

Automation Platforms
5+ years of experience building CI/CD pipelines at scale leveraging modern technologies.

Virtual. & Monitoring
5+ years of experience with latest generation monitoring tools, like Splunk or ELK

Database Platforms
10+ years of experience in working with databases, ideally more than one (Oracle, Ms SQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, any cloud databases, …)

Storage Platforms
10+ years of experience in working with storage technologies of a major global brand, preferably NetApp, leveraging all storage technologies (block., file, object)

Data Protection
10+ years of experience in working with data protection technologies of a major global brand, preferably Commvault.

Collaboration Platforms
5 – 10 years of IT experience in operations and system management.
More than 8 years of experience in Service Management or Engineering of a global service portfolio in similar areas as above, across geographies and business areas.
